"Dreamless" is the second single from my upcoming album entitled "Maybe Someday."

Track one, "Dreamless," is a short Kankyō Ongaku piece. Friendly keyboard chimes echo, surrounded by field recordings and wavering synth drones. Hazy recordings of birdsong and grocery store commerce commence the opening and closing of the track.

Track two, "All I Wish Is Gone Away," is an endless pining drone, featuring abyssal guitar chords, and distant arpeggios of synths. The sounds of dripping water, and prayer tablets (Ema) shaking noisily in the wind accompany the layered piece.

"Ema" are small wooden plaques, in which Shinto worshipers write prayers or wishes. Ema are left hanging on the shrine, where the spirits or gods are said to receive them. These tablets are eventually burned in a ritualistic event, symbolizing the liberation of the wish from the writer.

I am releasing this single as a sort of Ema, symbolizing my hopes and dreams for the future. Perhaps they will be realized, or maybe burned away instead...

The full album will release August 15th, 2022.
